TR Scaffolding were awarded the contract to provide external and internal access to facilitate the works. The internal installation comprised of a 66 metre long x 30m wide crash deck situated 10m above the ground. The deck was formed with a 5 degree slope, a water proof membrane and a guttering system to fully weather protect the valuable trains and maintenance equipment below. A external scaffold surrounding the perimeter of the building which measured in total 200m long x 10m high provided the necessary safe edge protection to compliment the internal scaffold. The entire project was installed within 5 weeks with teams working shifts around the clock.
